Design direction / After the answer

Designing what comes after the answer

A design direction for thinking about AI beyond answer quality: judgment, permission, action, and memory.

An answer is a beginning

Receiving an answer does not move reality by itself. A person still has to decide what to choose, what to leave alone, and which next step should proceed.

Two Brain treats the path after an answer—not only the answer itself—as a design problem.

Keep judgment human

Distinct perspectives can widen the available choices, but they should not decide what moves forward on their own. The direction is to keep purpose, consequence, and reversibility understandable to the person making the choice.

Carry the reasoning forward

Preserving why a step was chosen—and what was left unresolved—could help the next judgment begin with useful context instead of starting over.

Open questions

Questions that remain deliberately open as this direction develops.

  • Which decisions should always require explicit permission?
  • How should useful context be separated from information that should not be retained?
  • How should conflicting perspectives be handled without reducing judgment to a simple vote?
